OLYMPUS OM 10 FILM CAMERA

In 1979, Olympus released their first more consumer-targeted SLR film camera. Consumer-targeted means a less "professional" camera or shall we say today, an entry level camera. . . but that did not matter because this less pro-camera was a success.

In 2019, 40 years after the release to the said SLR camera, Olympus OM-10 landed in my hand for Php 800.00 only. My friend bought this camera from a surplus shop here in Davao City. Happy that my OM-10 was functional.

The price was too cheap since 2019 was the era of Digital SLR and Mirrorless cameras. Film cameras were outdated but I know that having a film camera in my arsenal will be very helpful for me as a photographer.

As eager as I wanted to learn film photography, I got frustrated with film few months after purchasing my OM-10 since I wasn't able to find a film developing center in the city and the films were very expensive, at least for me.

Not even tried my OM-10 in action, I set it aside and focused more on the digitals.

My interest with my OM-10 came back last February of 2025 since film photography was slowly coming back. I bought a new lens for my OM-10 and was really happy with it. I also bought a Lens Adapter so that I can use the lens with my digital cameras.

I am hoping I can use this Aperture Priority SLR Film Camera now and learn from the basics again. I said to my self, if I have to learn film, I have to gamble one, two films or more films and spend some bucks to send the films to Manila to develop my images.

Soon, I'll be posting photos taken by this Olympus OM-10 on this blog, but for now since Film Developing Center is not yet available here, just enjoy and feel the vintage vibes of my film camera.
